Privacy Policy

Overview
InkTyper ("we", "the app") is an account-based voice transcription and AI editing service. This policy explains how the desktop client, website, and InkTyper Cloud process information.
Information We Collect
1. Account and commercial data
- Email address, login identity, device sessions, and necessary security metadata
- Plan, subscription, license status, entitlement, and immutable usage records
- Payments are handled by providers such as Dodo Payments; InkTyper does not store complete payment-card details
2. Transcription and editing data
- Audio: Cloud transcription sends audio to private inference services. Batch audio may be retained in a restricted diagnostic cache for up to 30 minutes to reproduce short-output or model failures, then removed by a rolling cleanup job
- Text: Account history may contain raw transcripts and AI-edited text for history, synchronization, support, and quality improvement
- Preferences: Language, model, AI mode, hotkeys, and other settings may be stored locally and in your account
3. Operational and performance data
- Request ID, app version, platform, actual model, node, language, audio duration, and byte count
- Upload, queue, ASR, AI editing, and paste timings, plus errors, retries, and fallback reasons
- We use this data for metering, diagnosis, capacity planning, security auditing, and product performance
Processing Modes
- InkTyper Cloud: Audio is sent through InkTyper's private inference path; transcript, usage, and performance records are associated with the account
- Local mode (where offered): ASR may run on-device; account, synchronization, or cloud-AI features can still create the corresponding cloud records
- BYOK (where offered): Content is sent to the provider you select and is governed by that provider's privacy policy. Keys are stored securely by the client and are not uploaded as public data
Retention and Security
- Diagnostic audio is retained for no more than 30 minutes by default, with restricted file permissions and rolling deletion
- Account, transcript history, usage, and performance records are retained as needed to provide the service and meet financial and security obligations; periods differ by data class
- Inference credentials and provider secrets remain server-side. Account data is accessed through authenticated APIs
- Uninstalling the client removes local app data but does not automatically erase cloud records associated with the account
Children's Privacy
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
Third-Party Services
We may use the following categories of processors to provide the service:
- Supabase: account authentication and sessions
- Cloudflare: DNS, edge networking, API gateway, and database services
- Dodo Payments: checkout, subscriptions, and payment events
- Private inference nodes and AI providers: speech recognition or AI editing enabled by the user
These processors receive only data needed for their role and operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
Your Rights
- You can delete local client history, sign out, and revoke local permissions
- You can contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of account data. We process requests after identity verification and subject to applicable legal and financial retention duties
- You can revoke BYOK credentials or adjust available synchronization and editing settings
- You can manage app permissions (microphone, accessibility) in system settings
Permissions Explanation
- Microphone Permission: Used for voice recordings you actively start
- Accessibility Permission: Used to detect hotkeys and insert text into other apps, does not read or access other app content
Policy Changes
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the new version on this page and notify you in the app of significant changes.
